Introduction to Discovering the Next Great HR Technology Company Voting

Last year at the HR Technology Conference, we debuted a new session called “Discovering the Next Great HR Technology Company”, which was designed to, well, ‘discover’ which startup or emerging HR Technology company was creating the most interesting, innovative, and impactful new HR tech solution. As you might well imagine, the process to try and discover this kind of HR tech company is lengthy, expansive, and not at all easy. Last year’s honoree, LifeWorks, was selected at the conference from a final group of eight outstanding companies that themselves were selected from over 150 applicants.

With the popularity and excitement of last year’s process and selection of the Next Great HR Technology Company in mind, we had two thoughts as we began planning the second annual edition of the event. First, how to make the process even better. And second, how to involve more people, namely conference attendees and industry fans in the selection process itself. With all the energy, investment, and excitement surrounding the HR technology market in 2017, we felt we had to design a process that would tap into that excitement – both before and at the HR Tech Conference, October 10 – 13, 2017.

Like last year, we received something like 150 applications and nominations from startups and emerging HR technology companies for consideration. To try and find the very best companies from among this gigantic list, we partnered with four fantastic industry experts, George LaRocque, Ben Eubanks, Madeline Laurano, and Lance Haun who have each reviewed the list of applicants and then interviewed, and selected two contending companies each that will become semi-finalists in this year’s process.

These eight companies will be reduced to four finalists who will present and demo their solutions at HR Tech in October.

With that said, I would like to introduce the Discovering the Next Great HR Technology Company process for this year.

Here is how you can get involved:

For the next several weeks we will be posting product descriptions, videos, and other materials from each of the eight semi-finalists, two companies at a time, who will then compete for a place in the Discovering the Next Great HR Technology Company finals in Las Vegas. You will get a chance to learn more about each company’s solutions, their unique value propositions, and get some insights into their founders and teams. Each one of our industry expert coaches will also share their insight about what makes these companies interesting and innovative.

Your votes will determine the four finalists that will present at HR Tech and vie for the coveted title of the “Next Great HR Technology Company.”
